More Than A Month
Welcome to the More Than a Month Page!
This liberation hub aims to address the disparities in the history we are taught, acting as a reminder that we must all continue to expand our knowledge beyond the history month celebrations and engage with marginalised voices all year round.
Black, LGBTQ+, Disability and Women’s history have often been left out of our history books and education has been used as a colonial tool to negate other voices and experiences, in order to maintain white western hegemony and dominant ideologies.
This page highlights the importance to consistently engage with these undertaught and misrepresented histories in order to begin the process of decolonising our curriculum. But most importantly, it serves as a reminder that these histories must be remembered, conversations must be had, and education must continue outside of the given awareness months and days.
