The UoLPL and Give It A Go present the Intro To Draft! Learn how to play competitive Pokémon, the draft format and take part in our speed draft tournament! New players encouraged. Free refreshments and pizza for all attendees.

The University of Liverpool Pokémon League presents its first event in collaboration with the Give It A Go programme! Join us for the Intro To Draft, the perfect way to learn how to play competitive Pokémon and join the Liverpool draft community. The UoLPL's own draft, the Mossdeep Pokémon Championship League, returns for its eighth season very soon, this time with the addition of the Indigo Disk Pokémon. This event is intended for players of all experience levels, from trainers fresh out of Pallet Town to veteran Pokémon League champions, to learn competitive Pokémon and take part in the MPCL draft. The draft format involves players building a squad of eleven Pokémon and kitting them out to best take on their opponents in a 6v6 singles matchup, rewarding forward planning and strategy just as much as game skill.

The Intro To Draft session will begin with a presentation by society president and founder of the MPCL Jack Campbell. New players can learn the fundamentals of competitive Pokémon, while more experienced players will learn how the draft format differs from the likes of Smogon Singles and VGC. After this attendees will take part in the speed draft competition, putting all you have learned to the test. New players will be helped along by our experienced committee and coaching team, while experienced coaches will have a chance to test ideas and teams prior to the start of the season. Thanks to the Give It A Go programme, the event will be fully catered, including drinks, refreshments and Domino's pizza for all attendees. The society welcomes anyone to join us at The Font afterwards to better get to know your fellow coaches.

The MPCL has proven to be our society's most enduring and successful society activity. The committee is overwhelmingly proud of the community that has been built around it, including over 50 individual coaches. We highly encourage anyone interested in Pokémon to get involved, including new players who will be helped along by our amazing coaching team always ready to offer support, and a beginner's division to help develop your skills.

The Intro To Draft will be held in the Mathematical Sciences Building computer suite. No consoles, games or resources are required to play as all games are conducted through the Pokémon Showdown web-based battle simulator. Hope to see you there!
