We are delighted to organise a charity quiz event to fundraise for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation!
Origin of Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation:
The namesake of the charity – Roy Castle – was a beloved performer and presenter. He was diagnosed with a shock diagnosis of lung cancer, despite never having smoked, and was given 6 months to live accompanied with aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He
went into remission, did a ‘Tour of Hope’ around the UK, and helped Professor Ray Donnelly MBE in his ambition to build the first international lung cancer research facility. He sadly passed way in 1994, two years after his diagnosis.
Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK. It is the greatest cause of cancer death in the UK, accounting for 21% of all cancer deaths.
Smoking is the biggest risk factor for lung cancer - it is linked to 72% of cases Most people are diagnosed at a later stage however early detection can improve survival chances!
We aim to contribute to Roy Castle in helping them to continue their amazing effort in providing support for those affected by lung cancer! All proceeds go to donation.
Amazing prizes to be won by top quiz scorers during the event. An additional bake sale available throughout the event. See you there! ⭐️
