For every time we’ve walked home with one headphone in.
For every time we’ve crossed the street or faked a phone call to someone who’s just around the corner.
For every “text me when you’re home safe”.
We are standing together to reclaim the night.
Reclaim the Night is back.
On the 29th November we are taking to the streets to march for an end of gender-based violence and ensure safety and autonomy for all women and marginalised genders in Liverpool. We’re joining forces with JMSU and Liverpool Hope SU to bring this vital event back to our city; the event may have paused but our experiences haven’t changed.
This is a call to action, an opportunity to stand together in demanding an end gender-based violence, to challenge victim-blaming cultures, and to show our city and campuses that the safety of women and marginalised genders should be prioritised. This campaign continues to bring conversations and ongoing issues around safety, visibility and justice for women and marginalised groups in our city.
Together, let’s make Liverpool a place where everyone feels secure and included.
Join us as we reclaim our streets.
- On the streets, women and girls experience misogynistic, gender-based abuse, harassment and unwanted attention from men on a daily basis.
- 71% of women of all ages have experienced sexual harassment in a public space.
- 1 in 5 women will experience sexual violence.
- Women and girls should be free to go about their daily lives without fear of harassment or abuse.
