Happy Valentines Day! This year we want to celebrate all of the amazing love stories that started at the heart of campus. From society soulmates, sparks flying in our staff teams and meeting bae at the Sphinx bar, here are a few of our favourite Guild couples:
Alex & Izzie
Way back in 2019, two unlikely partners were paired in a Ballroom and Latin class in the Guild dance studio. Fast forward 4 years and Alex felt the Guild was the perfect place to propose, reminding Izzie of the significance of that first dance together as they get ready to dance all their dances together!
Adam and Melissa
“Melissa & I met in December 2013 when Melissa starting working at the Guild. This is where I say “it was love at first sight” but it wasn’t, I thought she was snooty and she thought I was an idiot. But through our work as staff reps together and our mutual love of cheap Sphinx pints on a Friday the stars aligned. We’ve been married 6 years this year and have two daughters together; Orlaith & Niamh.”
Lydia & Sam
“Sam and I started working together at the Guild in 2014 and worked together on the bar for 2 years. I carried on while Sam went into teaching, and then we got married in 2021. Our working dynamic was usually Sam making everyone think he was working hard, whilst I actually did the hard work. It was always fun though!”
Graeme & Emily
“Emily came to Liverpool to work at the Guild in the Democracy and Campaigns team, without that role we’d have never met and ended up working together at the Guild where in that time we got married”
Mark & Josie
10 years ago Mark & Josie met in LUMS, playing in various ensembles and shows together and enjoying the socials.
Their love was the perfect harmony and fast forward to now, they’re married and have just celebrate their first Christmas a family of 3!
Eve- Marie & Lucy
“Me and my girlfriend Lucy met whilst we were students, working at the coffee shop in the Guild. Fast forward a few years, we live together in Liverpool with our cat Fang!”
Tara & Ollie
"We met through the music society here and continued through into the musical theatre society together. We've gone on to live together with our dog and working together in the student activities team!"
