From Tuesday 19th March – Friday 22nd March, we asked University of Liverpool students whether the Guild should lobby the University to support Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions through boycotting the following 5 companies:

With 1417 votes in total, we had a turnout of 4.7% of the student body. This means that the required quoracy of 3% (904 votes) was achieved in this Referendum.
The results of the Referendum were as follows:
Should the Guild adopt the proposal: “Oppose Israeli Crimes through Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)”?
Yes – 1243 votes
No – 174 votes
This Referendum was called in accordance with the Guild’s democratic processes and was an opportunity for the Guild’s membership to decide and form a corporate conclusion on the matters expressed within it. Any steps to be taken by the Guild in the implementation of any adopted motion will be subject to the trustees’ charity law duties and the Articles of Association of the Guild.
