Whether you’re a first year or final year, we know that lots of you are thinking about your next steps after leaving University and carving your path in the world of work (Alexa play 9-5). To help you along the way, there are lots of ways that the Guild can help you to become more employable, through activities to help you develop your own personal employable skills and make an impact on the student experience at UoL.
From Society Committee roles to Student Officers and Student Leaders' Conference to ‘Introduction to’ events, there are a whole host of ways to get involved, with a range of commitment levels.

Join us at our Student Leaders’ Conference, two weeks full of sessions and talks from special guest speakers to help build your leadership, public speaking and problem-solving skills! Sessions include Confidence & Public Speaking, Leading as a Student Officer, Inclusive Leadership & lots more
Fill your schedule with sessions that will build your confidence, develop a host of transferable skills and allow you to expand your leadership qualities ready for your next challenge. If you attend 7+ hours of sessions, your attendance can be uploaded to your Higher Education Achievement Report when you graduate!

Take the next step in your leadership journey and shape your society in one of our Society Committee roles.
Lead your society as President, keep them on budget as Treasurer, plan amazing socials as Social Sec or run their social media as Marketing Officer & lots more.
All of our society committee members will receive 4.5 hours of training to equip them to take on the role and make them their own.

Student Representatives are the link between students across the University and our Student Officers. They work with staff and students to improve the learning and teaching experience, identifying and discussing issues which affect their course and help to come up with solutions.
All our Student Reps receive 2 hours of training to make the most of the role.

We have a team of our Student Trustees who sit on our Board. For up to 2 years, the Student Trustees oversee everything the Guild does and make sure the student voice is represented, and students are at the heart of everything we do.
Attending 4 Board meetings a year, the team work with the Guild Senior Management Team and External Trustees to govern the long-term stability of the Guild, manage risk and strategic change.

We recruit a panel of society members who meet 6 times a year to approve small bids from societies. They ensure that society bids sit within society aims and are using the funding streams to the best of their ability.
All members are given training on the role and attend at least 4 Mini Spend It meetings a year.

Want to give back to your local community, campus or the Guild itself. We have a range of volunteering opportunities that you can get involved in to develop your skills and boost your good karma.

Our Student Officer Team work full-time to improve the lives of students and represent the student voice on campus; making sure students stay at the heart of everything we do. It is a job in which no two days are the same; from attending University Committee meetings to leading campaigns and planning our activities, it really is a year (or two) like no other.

All our election’s candidates receive a range of training from campaigning to graphic design and video editing to key election training to make sure you’re ready to take on the process and the role.
Even if you aren’t elected, taking part in the Student Officer Election will develop key skills that will shape your next steps.
Nominations for Student Officer will open in Semester 2.
