Academic Support Tutor

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

We are recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to support primary or secondary students at our learning centres. You should have achieved at least a grade C/5 for English and Maths GCSEs (or equivalent).

We are currently recruiting committed and enthusiastic volunteers to support groups of primary or secondary students at our learning centres in North Liverpool and Kirkby.

What is Academic Support?
Our after-school Academic Support programme provides free tutoring and support to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a stimulating classroom environment. Young people receive tailored help with homework, coursework, revision and study skills from a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

What does it involve?

  • Attending a training and selection session
  • Submitting references and undergoing an Enhanced DBS check
  • Volunteering once a week at IntoUniversity North Liverpool or IntoUniversity Kirkby. Most sessions run for 2 hours and begin between 15:15 and 16:00
  • Supporting either Primary or Secondary sessions, helping students with their homework or supporting the running of our own degree-focused curriculum workshops
  • Being a role model to our students and encouraging their learning

Training available

Full training and support is provided: - An online training session covering the role requirements and Safeguarding - Ongoing support from your centre, with regular reviews and check-ins - Briefings and debriefs for each session.

Transport details

Volunteers are expected to make their own way to and from our centres. If travel costs are prohibitive for you, please speak to a member of the team.
