Your Current Deputy President, Running to Be Your President – Vote Jitendra! @jitendra4prez_again

 

I’m Jitendra, your current Deputy President. Over the past year, I’ve worked hard to make student life better—from securing cheaper food in the Guild shop to launching the Redbrick Festival (happening on March 28!). I’m also still pushing for cheaper gym access and lower bus fares to make daily life more affordable.

I’ve sat in countless board meetings, making sure your voice is heard across the university. I now know how to get things done, and I want to keep delivering real change for you.

  1. Did you know there’s no quick resit opportunity for Masters students if they fail their dissertation? Students could even fail due to AI detection or plagiarism, and currently, failing means waiting a whole year for a resit, ruining visa plans, PSW eligibility, and career opportunities. I refuse to let this keep happening—I’m working with the university to fix this now.

  2. Libraries close at 6 PM in summer—just when Masters students need study spaces for their dissertations. I’m working with the libraries to ensure 24/7 study spaces are available during this crucial time.

  3. I’m also planning an epic Farewell Party in December so we can all celebrate your last night as a student in style! 

  4. I want to make the Guild more connected and inclusive by improving support for societies,enhancing Courtyard and Union Brew with games and a social table,and working on cheaper and wider food options.

  5. The university is massive, and many students don’t know where to find help, events, or job opportunities. I’ll work to introduce a student-friendly chatbot to make it easier for you to find information about everything Uni-life.

  6. Finally, I’ll make Redbrick Festival 2.0 unforgettable—bigger, better, and more vibrant, with even more departments coming together to celebrate the amazing culture of our university!
