Find your people
Meeting new people and finding your friends can be a top priority for all students, not just first years, and you can feel under pressure to meet your new bff in the first few days. We want to help take the pressure off and find opportunities to meet new people throughout your University experience.
Top Tip
You don’t need to have met your new best friends in your first few days or even few weeks on campus – building your friendships can take time!
Don’t just take it from us, hear how our students made their friends:
Here are a few ways to get you started
- #1 Guild Events
If you haven’t met anyone yet, coming along to an event solo can feel a bit nerve-racking! OOur pre-events meetups throughout Welcome Week are the perfect place to meet a whole new group of mates before heading off to our events!
Keep up to date with all things events by signing up to our Commercial mailing list. Be the first to know about Refreshers Fair freebies and new bar offers and all the best merch deals!
- #2 Connect before you arrive
You don’t need to wait until you’re on campus to start meeting people! Get connected before term starts by joining The Ambassador Platform and find your course mates!
- #3 Join a Society
We have over 200+ societies for you to join for free from Ballroom to Booksoc and everything in between. Getting involved in societies is a great way to expand your friendship group and meet people with a common interest.
Meet a range of societies in person at our Refreshers Fair on Friday 2nd February... and remember, joining societies isn’t just for the first week of term! You can join at any point in the year. Discover our societies and find your perfect fit!
Go on, check out our societies today!
